My name is María Angela Reyes. I am an artist, illustrator, and teacher. I have a BA in fine arts and I am also a reiki master. I have over ten years of art teaching experience.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Painting is my window; it allows me to show my inner vision to the viewers.
When I work with color, volume, and texture I am reminded that this new painting I am working on, becomes a window that allows me to show all those things inside me, that can’t be expressed by language.
I begin a piece when I become passionate about an idea and realize I can’t stop thinking about it.
I know the piece is done when I look at the canvas and I know it doesn’t need any more brush strokes of color… then I can’t stop grinning.
When people see my work, I'd like them to enjoy my work the same way it gets me when I know it is ready to be shown.
If I know my artwork was able to put a smile on someone’s face, then I know my purpose as an artist has been fulfilled.
